Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an Integrative Oncology Nurse Specialist?

An Integrative Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse with specialist training in cancer care who also uses evidence-informed lifestyle interventions and complementary therapies to support patients holistically — before, during, and after treatment.
An Integrative Oncology Nurse is an experienced oncology nurse who combines specialized oncology knowledge with evidence-based complementary therapies to support patients both physically and emotionally throughout their cancer journey.

2. How is your service different from what the hospital provides?

While hospital oncology teams focus on diagnosis and treatment, my role is to complement their work by offering personalized, whole-person support. I help you manage physical, emotional, and lifestyle challenges—supporting your wellbeing, coping strategies, and overall quality of life throughout your cancer journey.
Please note:

  • I do not offer medical treatments, diagnostic services, or hands-on nursing procedures such as infusions, injections or wound care.

  • I am not able to respond to urgent health concerns or emergencies. In such cases, you must contact your oncology team, GP, NHS 111, 999 or other emergency services as appropriate.

  • Support is provided through scheduled sessions only. I do not offer on-call or out-of-hours care.

3. Who can benefit from your services?

I support individuals at every stage of the cancer journey — from those newly diagnosed, in active treatment, in recovery, remission, or living with advanced disease. I also welcome anyone interested in cancer prevention, as well as carers looking for guidance or emotional support in caring for a loved one.

4. In a nutshell, what services do you offer?

Personalized integrative cancer advice
Ad-Hoc consultations (to clarify treatment plans, explore options, etc.)
Medical acupuncture in central London (Harley street area) and at your own home within the M25 area.

5. Why is the program 12 weeks long?

The 12-week structure is grounded in scientific evidence showing that this is the minimum timeframe required to create meaningful, lasting changes in health behaviours, physical function, and psychological wellbeing. Research in oncology and behavioural science consistently demonstrates that three months is an effective period to build new routines, see measurable improvements, and integrate supportive therapies in a sustainable way.

Most of my patients appreciate this framework, as it offers a clear, guided pathway that allows space for progress without being overwhelming. That said, I also offer one-off consultations if you prefer a more flexible or ad hoc approach.

6. Do I need a referral from my oncologist?

I work with different oncologists via direct referral. However you can also self refer or can be referred by a relative or carer. Please note you need to seek consent from patient prior to referral.
I'll ask you to provide the details of your medical team, clinic letters and other medical records, this is essential to thoroughly understand your case. I also liaise with your medical team (with your consent) to ensure coordinated care.

7. Is this service only for people currently in treatment?

Not at all. I work with people before, during, and after treatment — including those in long-term recovery or palliative stages. Support is always tailored to your needs and goals.

8. Do you treat the cancer itself?

No. I do not replace medical or nursing oncology care. My role is to complement conventional treatments by supporting your body and mind, helping reduce treatment-related symptoms, and improving overall wellbeing with evidence- based lifestyle interventions and complementary therapies.

9. Can you visit me at home?

Yes, I offer home visits across London and inside the M25 area. Please enquire for other locations.

10. Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes. My consultations can be both virtual and in person for flexibility and convenience.

11. Do you provide nursing treatments such as injections, infusions, or medication administration?

That’s a very important question—and one I deeply respect. I'm also a member of the Royal College of Nursing, the British Medical Acupuncture Society, the Society of Integrative Oncology and the College of Medicine, In addition to my nursing qualifications, I’m trained in Medical acupuncture with a specific focus in Oncology, as well as trained specifically in TCM Auricular Acupuncture. 13.Are you CQC registered?

No, I am not required to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)—and here’s why:

The CQC regulates medical providers that deliver certain types of clinical procedures, such as diagnostic services, medication administration (like infusions or injections), or personal care provided in patients’ homes under specific frameworks.

My services do not fall under these categories, therefore are not suitable for CQC registration.
As an independent nurse specialist, I provide non-invasive, supportive care that includes education, guidance and evidence-based lifestyle strategies—all of which are legally exempt from CQC regulation.

14.Do you work alone, or can you refer me to other specialists if needed?

While I work independently, you’re never alone in your care. I’m proud to be part of a trusted network of oncology specialists, including but not limited to:

  • Oncology physiotherapists

  • Cancer-specialist dietitians and nutritionists

  • Clinical psychologists

  • Palliative care consultants

  • Oncology medical consultants and surgeons

If at any point I feel you would benefit from further input, a second opinion, or specialised support outside my scope, I will refer you to a qualified, evidence-based professional who shares my holistic and person-centred approach.

I believe in joined-up, respectful care, and I’ll work alongside your existing medical team to ensure that your care is safe, integrated, and fully aligned with your treatment goals.
